“My favorite beauty look is exactly what’s happening right now, which is just nothing,” says a bare-faced Maggie Rogers upon completion of her skin-care routine. “That’s sort of when I feel the sexiest, and the most like myself.” Her complexion is achieved in part through a six-step regimen comprised of Kiehl’s cult cleanser, followed by Pharrell’s Humanrace exfoliant, Isla’s moisturizer, and Tata Harper’s radiance-boosting mask, which she applies once a week or so. But her most prized and prioritized step? Sunscreen. Today’s pick is the coveted sheer formula by Supergoop!.

Rogers embraces skin care as an act of self-care—whether the goal is aiding relaxation after a high-adrenaline day on tour or combatting stress breakouts while in grad school. “Trying to just keep a couple products consistent has been the most important part of my skin-care routine and has kept my skin from flaring up,” Rogers notes.

She recalls feeling intimidated by beauty growing up, though now she is eager to experiment with how she presents herself to the world. At the moment, that involves short hair, which she styles by wetting it and letting it dry under a bandana as she does her makeup. “I’ve always been attracted to androgyny and found that my gender presentation is this really fluid thing especially when my hair is changing,” she says. “Makeup has been something that has always helped me play with that or bring out different sides of my personality or what I find to be really beautiful.”

The 28-year-old hydrates her lips with Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask (a product recommendation she got from Halsey, and also uses as an under-eye cream), conceals with a Tom Ford pen, and grooms her brows into place with a Benefit Cosmetics gel. “Going through those phases with products and changing what I’m emphasizing has been a big part of my beauty evolution,” she says. Right now, it’s all about the eyes. “Using an eyeliner that has a little more red or purple to it is something that helps accentuate my eyes and with short hair that has always felt really helpful,” she notes. Next, Nars’s blush in Orgasm adds a touch of femininity and Le Volume de Chanel coats her lashes. “If I had one beauty product on a desert island for the rest of my life it would be mascara,” she muses—inspired by Twiggy’s iconic lashes. “It feels just so fun and expressive, and has been such an exciting part of this record and this look.”
